Okay, here goes another finale recap. Let me start by saying GOD DAMN. This whole season lacked the direction and focus that the overarching storyline needs to create the depth in what otherwise would simply be a procedural show. The House/Cuddy tension was great all season, but for it not to peak in the finale? I know House has to ruin everything, but that he made everything up? The detoxing, the Cuddy tenderness, the strength for him to ask her to help him, it was a little too cruel for me, an ever sensitive viewer. Also it felt cheap frankly. I’ve always loved the House writers for selling me on why things are the way they are. They are masterful at creating situations and manipulating the characters so that everything they do/we see is totally and completely believable. So for it to all be a dream felt like they ran out of an ending on a weak fifth season. Deus ex machina and all that good stuff. That being said, very clever House Cuddy dialouge in the final, and more importantly, even thought they had hinted at this a couple seasons ago, we know for a fact that House and Cuddy slept together at one point. And also, I’m glad to see House finally go to rehab, I actually found myself wanting him to pull his life together, at least a little bit. Like Wilson said (and I hate agreeing with Wilson), “You can be the man with the answers or you can be the man with Cuddy”. And frankly, I want him to be the man with Cuddy. It’s time for his character to make a small step forward. We deserve that after five years. He deserves that after five years. Let’s not forget precious moments though, Cameron and Chase were perfect. Not everything in that storyline was perfect, but it was so gratifying that I didn’t care. Although it must have been super awkward for them to shoot that scene after breaking off their engagement in real life. Last but not least, as much as I hate Amber, man is it fun to have her around. Great job bringing her back writers, watching her be House was fascinating. So much sass. And I’m glad we saw Kutner one more time, even if it was only in the creepiest of capcities. Awaiting the next season, and as always, I have total faith that the writers will bring it back in a bigger and better way that I’ve imagined.
